چکیده
Groundwater is a primary source of freshwater provisions all around the world. Due to its limited availability, water has become precious entity nowadays. The future accessibility groundwater endangered due massive exploitation, particularly in irrigation sector. Therefore, current study was conducted assess declining levels Rechna Doab, Punjab, Pakistan, where aquifer been reported be highly stressed. A flow model developed using MODFLOW code USGS, and steady-state calibrated for year 2006, followed by transient calibration years 2006–2010. Finally, validated 2011–2013, new scenario-based approach used. Multiple scenarios were simulate response under changed recharge pumping. hydrodynamics studied two decades, i.e., up 2033. results business-as-usual scenario revealed net gain upper parts area. In contrast, lowering predicted central lower parts. maximum drop level anticipated 5.17 m, with 5 m. For Scenario II, which historical trend pumping, an overall decline observed, expected drawdown 15.68 However, proposed management III showed general decrease region, highest being 10.7 whereas recovery 6.87 m regions observed. simulations also suggested that unconfined actively responded different interventions. It concluded region’s needs immediate action regarding pumping patterns avoid potential increase costs preserve sustainability resources. Moreover, proper policy legislation should implemented order protect this resource.

Application of MODFLOW and geographic information system to groundwater flow simulation in North China Plain, China
MODFLOW is a groundwater modeling program. It can be compiled and remedied according to the practical applications. Because of its structure and fixed data format, MODFLOW can be integrated with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology for water resource management. The North China Plain (NCP), which is the politic, economic and cultural center of China, is facing with water resources sh...
متن کاملModflow/mt3dms-based Simulation of Variable- Density Groundwater Flow with Simultaneous Heat and Solute Transport
SEAWAT is a finite-difference computer code designed to simulate coupled variabledensity ground water flow and solute transport. This paper describes a new version of SEAWAT that adds the ability to simultaneously model energy and solute transport. This is necessary for simulating the transport of heat and salinity in coastal aquifers for example. This work extends the equation of state for flu...
متن کاملGroundwater recharge simulation using a coupled saturated-unsaturated flow model
Abstract The coupled MODFLOW-HYDRUS software package was used to produce a saturated-unsaturated flow model for a Flood Spreading System (FSS) and its associated aquifer. The study aim to improve simulations of near-surface hydrological processes, including temporal and spatial variation in groundwater recharge rates. The coupled model was built with average RMSE=1.1 and 1.3 for calibration ...
